Homeschool Heroes Holla for Rolla
In only it's first year of existence, the Rolla Homeschool
Athletic Association (RHAA) earned it's second championship
trophy.
The championship RHAA Royals boys team includes Ben Applegate, Jordan Chasteen,
Landon Durick, Andy Hall, David Hickle, Mark Hickle, Nathan Hickle,
Cody Light, and Zach Winzer.
For a Chasteen to stand out amongst these Hickles was quite an accomplishment,
with Jordan running a quick 5 points to help his Royals to a 71-67 victory
against the Knights sending them to the championship game against the Applewood
Mustangs in the semifinals.
The Royals took command early in the game, having an 11 point lead at the half.
The Mustangs struggled to regain an edge, tying it up at the end of the 3rd period.
In the final period the Royals fought back, with Jordan adding 6 points from the
bench to send his team to a 68-61 win and the championship title.

Chastain's Phoenix Rising
Elon University senior pitcher Matt Chastain tied his career-high of six strikeouts
to lead the Phoenix to a 7-2 victory earlier this month and 10 days later became the
second Phoenix pitcher to reach five wins on the season
On March 8th, he lasted 8 innings with two runs on five hits and two walks while striking
out six, tying his career best, which he has done twice before. Ten days later he lasted
5 innings, allowed one run on five hits and struck out four to tie the season high for wins.
His coaches say he brings experience to the squad and are expecting big things
from him this spring, stating he "Has a great arm and good stuff.."
In 2005 he earned a 21-10 victory over the eventual Southern Conference Champions,
ultimately posting a 4-3 record and 4.74 ERA in 14 appearances with nine starts, and
throwing 57 innings with only 17 walks to 30 strikeouts.
Sportscast Editor DESPERATELY Seeking Fantasy Football Managers
NFL Free agency is almost over after a tumultuous scramble for the top
eligible players in the league. With the NFL Draft just around the corner,
it would be great to get a group of Chastain League managers together to
reap the benefits of the off-season aquisitions.
As a Dolphins fan, and a realist, I can understand the apprehension that one
might feel about going against a learned manager and two time NFL Fantasy
Football League Champion, but I think an all Chastain League would just be,
well, cool.

Ashley Chastain Aims High with Rifle in Wildcat Invitational Tournament
Ashley Chastain, a junior at Rifle High School in Garfield County, Colorado
was playing near the top of her game by posting the lowest round among all area
girls prep golfers with a score of 94 at the Wildcat Invitational Tournament
at Adobe Creek Golf Course in Fruita this past Wednesday.
This is quite an acheivement in itself, but considering that this is the first
time she and her teammates have been on a golf course this year, one can only
imagine that she and her team will continue to improve as they get more time on
the turf.
"This is the first time we've been on a golf course," she said. "We haven't
played any holes this year. I think the best thing is we got the girls on the
golf course. All we've been doing is hitting balls in the gym and putting balls
on the carpet."
Ashley looked good throughout the tournament, but she was plagued by a wind that
stirred up as she began the back nine. "The wind was definitely a factor. It did
move my ball a little bit," stated Ashley. "But today was good overall. I only
really had four really bad holes and I was consistent and strong."
Ashley led her Rifle team to the best team score among Class 4A teams at the
12-team tournament with a combined score of 297, with the remainder of her
teammates shooting in the low 100's.
After having their first event following the spring break, Rifle has another week
off before resuming play next week. We will be keeping an eye on Ashley's progress
and expect that she will continue to improve her play once she gets as much
exposure to the fairway as she has had to the carpet so far this year.
We've Heard from Adrian and Promise More News Soon
She recently sent us this cover, proving that she's still got the Best Bod on the Beach a
year after placing in the GNC Pro Figure Championship.
More to come.............
