March 23, 2008. The Pierre Chastain Family Association's 33rd Family Reunion will be held in Clemson, South Carolina October 2-4, 2008. March 21, 2008. David T. Chastain's band Southern Gentlemen will release its new album, Valley of Fire, on May 13 through Leviathan Records. The CD's title cut is currently available for streaming on the group's MySpace page.

September 20, 2006. The annual Chastain Family Reunion will be held on October 27-29, 2006 in Rome, Georgia. See more information at the Reunion Page on the Pierre Chastain Family Association website.

August 24, 2006. Hello Chastains and other visitors. From May 4, 2006 until today, August 24, 2006, Chastain Central has been off-line due to a serious communication problem with our domain name registrar. The problem was their not responding to our many communications over that time. Actually, it began even earlier when they did not respond to our renewal. It has been frustrating, but we are back on line! Look for new articles and many updates over the next few days.

June 14, 2006. Brandi Chastain and husband Jerry Smith had a son born on June 8th at 10:34 pm. Jaden Chastain Smith weighed in at 7 lbs, 10 oz and was 22 inches long. Jaden is Brandi's first child.

April 24, 2006. Rising young film maker Joseph Chastain will begin shooting a documentary on Self Injury this spring. Prominent experts Andrew Levander and Dr. Tracy Alderman will be among the interview subjects.

February 21, 2006. Pierre Chastain and His Descendents, volume one is now in stock at Pierre Chastain Family Association.

February 10, 2006. Brandi Chastain and her husband Jerry Smith are expecting their first baby in June of 2006. Brandi is 37.

November 30, 2005. HBO documentary Dare to Dream: The Story of the U.S. Women's Soccer Team debuts December 11 on HBO. Brandi Chastain features prominently in this chronicle of the nearly 20-year arc of U.S. women's soccer.

November 23, 2005. Professor Clark E. Chastain is dead at age 76. Clark was born November 12, 1928 in Cecil, Arkansas. He and Eva Goette were married in Idar-Oberstein, Germany on December 29, 1952 while he was serving with the U.S. Army. Her parents were Karl and Margarete Goette of Wolfen, East Germany. Professor Chastain was associated with the University of Michigan from 1958 until his retirement in 1994, after which he was declared Professor Emeritus. He held a master's degree from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate from the University of Michigan. He taught at the Ann Arbor and Dearborn campus before moving to the Flint campus in the mid-seventies. Professor Chastain wrote accounting textbooks including Corporate Asset Management: A Guide for Financial and Accounting Professionals, 1987. Clark E. Chastain was actively involved in Chastain genealogical research and investigated landmarks for Rev. John Chastain in the Carolinas, Elijah in Georgia, and Pierre in France. He contributed a scholarly article on his research in France to the April, 1980 issue of The Chestnut Tree. His descent from Pierre is Ulysses Grant (7), Joseph D. (6), Edward Bruce (5), Edward Brigand (4), John (3), Peter, Jr. (2), Pierre (1). Professor Chastain died Thursday, October 20, 2005 at a facility for assisted living in Grand Blanc, Michigan. His funeral was held October 25, 2005 in Charleston, Arkansas, and he is buried in Lowe's Creek Cemetery in Lowe's Creek, Arkansas. He and Eva had no children. (notice expanded 1-17-06)

October 6, 2005. Conservative political columnist Jane Chastain has a new book forthcoming: Abortion, the Bible and the Church. The release date is unknown, but an excerpt is available at WorldNetDaily.

August 13, 2005. Sportswriter Bill Chastain's new book, Steel Dynasty: The Team That Changed the NFL (Triumph Books) is due to release September 30. It is about the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s. Six consecutive AFC Central titles, eight playoff appearances, four Super Bowl wins. Rocky Bleier wrote the foreword.
